World War One Becomes ‘Living History’
People in Prescot are invited to remember the outbreak of World War One this Thursday, 21 August, with a free Living History Workshop.
The event, which runs between 10am and 4pm at Prescot Shopping Centre, includes a ‘pop-up’ trench containing wartime artefacts, stories of local soldiers, a medal-making arts and crafts station, and replica postcards to send messages back to the troops.
Adults and children alike can take part in the hands-on activities.
“We wanted to mark the centenary of World War One in a way that would enable the community to learn more, reflect upon and remember the past,” said centre manager Victoria Nichol, “and we hope that our free Living History Workshop brings the community together at this very important time.”
