Firefighters Tackle Prescot Fire for 17 Hours
Firefighters worked through the night to extinguish a fire on the former BI site in Prescot last Friday night (23 January).
Mersey Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the wasteground between Manchester Road and Hall Lane at about 6.15pm, where combustible waste, including timber, was ablaze.
People across Prescot and Whiston reported seeing and smelling smoke throughout the evening.
Firefighters needed a fire appliance, hose reels and a digger to tackle the deep-seated fire, and didn’t leave the scene until 11am on Saturday morning.
No injuries or damage to buildings were reported.
