Len What have Whiston and the other parish councils done with their precept? As a point of interest the money KMBC are investing is not Knowsley money but funds from the National lottery !
KMBC put up the council tax an extra 1% in 2010/11 to pay for the Huyton complex

    Is this a joke?
The on site facilities will be useless which is why the original buildings should have been refurbished as voted for by the people of Prescot.
The word from Westminster is that Knowsley is going to get abolished anyway so good riddance to a rotten borough.

    @ Len
here’s an idea. Why don’t you and the rest of the scouse scrotes from Huyton and Kirkby ‘do one’ back to Liverpool, get on a boat and FO back to Ireland? That way you will avoid getting smashed by historic and heroic Lancastrians from Prescot.
Go and read a history book and you’ll see why Prescotians answer to no-one (especially scousers).

Unnecessary comment, John. I for one am proud to consider myself a Scouser, a Lancastrian AND a Prescotian.

    Where are the civic facilities?

    • prescotonline

      Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 5:11 pm

At the moment, Prescot Leisure Centre functions as a civic suite. Once it goes, there won’t be a civic venue of comparable size. It will be the third civic centre Knowsley has taken from Prescot in as many decades.

I am very disappointed in the above plans. Prescot leisure is
currently a central hub for prescot housing; various martial art groups
Higherside boxing club, slimming clubs, various keep fit sessions, football
training and has 3 function rooms!! Can Knowsley council tell us how
and where they are going to house these groups etc????
I’m very very disappointed and feel I won’t be the only one!!!

Michele, “John O Gaunt” doesn’t speak for all Prescotians. Some of us are proud to be Prescotian without that kind of nonsensical prejudice.

Get the town council to spend some money our maybe they will waste some more like the clocking on the machine they have got but no employee

Len, we had a perfectly up-to-date civic suite. Knowsley Council closed it within a few years of its opening and turned it into welfare offices. KMBC then led Prescotians to believe refurbishing the leisure centre was an option at last October’s consultation, and then went ahead with their plans to demolish it anyway, despite having the support of only a minority. Same old story.

If Prescot Town council didnt have to spend money fighting the the decisions of labour run KMBC and KMBC actually listened to the people of Prescot then more can be done , All the Town Council want is to work together with KMbc to achieve whats best, Unfortunately KMBC are hell bent of destroying Prescot and the town council ,Labours actions to anyone whom stands against them are disgraceful ie the Carl Cashman issue and labours defamation of a young man who only wants to make a difference to the town he loves. There is a time gap between KMBC plans and when the town council and other groups can move , so whats going to happen in between , where do the people of Prescot go , also why have flat roofs on the new bike sheds ie so called leisure centre as everyone knows they are high maintenance , just too many question marks over this proposal for it to be granted .

Len, for a councillor, you don’t know much about the electoral system, do you? I thought we’d been through this before? An election candidate is perfectly entitled to propose a change of council. As a resident of the borough, he is eligible to stand for office. It’s not very complicated.

Knowsley council are being very coy about just how many chief officers are receiving more pay than the Prime Minister? Quite a few so I hear. Then there are the huge amounts of money involved in educational and PFI disasters.Lets get real, Labour`s legacy is bankruptcy and mass immigration.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-1359367/Labours-immigration-policy-let-3m-defiance-British-peoples-wishes.html

Knowlsey Council has never really understood much about Prescot. It seems politics has always caused the rift although the Prescot Town Council didn’t help their cause by signing a ten year lease on the leisure centre in 2000!
The Council does listen (sometimes) so maybe the questions need to be different rather than LAB v LIB conflicts?
It’s annoying about my old school getting a ridiculous name, the Shakespeare North opportunity being missed and other issues but unless credible arguments and discussions are put forward without the politics the town will end up with zero facilities and die slowly, which in turn will spell the end for small boroughs like Knowlsey in these economic times.

The town of Prescot will only die slowly if we allow it to happen .By any means i have not been here long ie 12 years but i loved this town when i first visited and stayed . over the years i have seen the sad decline of facilites for everyone young and old . i have researched and found that this was once a proud and prosperous town and find no reason why it cant be again. I believe the land that the current leisure centre stands on is protected by covenant that it could only be used for leisure facilities , Surely when this covenant was placed that it would lead to a greater plan than we have before us today , the idea would have been to surely create one of the finest leisure areas in the north west , instead what we have on the table is an insult not only to the people of Prescot but to the covenant . Labour run KMBC have continually blocked plans that benefit the people of Prescot constantly ignored the people of prescot and dismissed us in their election campaigns and leaflets ,why do labour continue in posting remarks on facebook and this and other sites under false names , they must be ashamed to put their own name on it , i for one am not and i will fight for Prescot and Whiston and express my concerns and put my name to it . This is not about national politics this is about what happens in our towns , to family to our children and our facilities ,As parents we owe it to our children to make the decisions that shape their future and they in turn will make decisions to shape generations to come , i for one can look them in the eye and say i fought to protect and better your facilities , if you care enough then its time to object to this downgrading of facilities and look after the future , Can we do it YES WE CAN ,please lodge your objection to this plan in writing to KMBC before March 23rd then come May elections we have the opportunity to place our future in our hands . together we can make a difference together we can shape our communities , together we can achieve . Its your choice and thats whats great about democracy , thanks for reading the rest is up to you .

Before Tesco Opened on the cables estate I and many others were led to believe we were getting not only a fantastic Liesure centre but also a cinema, ten pin bowling alley and more. It all sounded great stuff. What happened? Twelve years later we in Precot and Whiston are having what we had taken away. I would like to know how much all that publicty cost and who paid.

When are the bulldozers meant to be moving in?
Vote these shaved monkeys out of office and Prescot might stand a chance as Brad points out.
There certainly is a covenant on the Leisure centre pitches but Knowsley have tried to sell it off before and will probably try again. They’re all corrupt so if the Con Dems want to save money just abolish Knowsley and put Prescot & Whiston in South Lancs with St Helens. Let’s see how long Huyton and Kirkby last without Prescot Council Tax payers proping them up? Put those areas back into Liverpool and save a fortune on middle / senior manager tosspots in Knowsley. Don’t get me started on the bottomfeeders who do the actual ‘work’ for the council.
sadly, the above is so simple and obvious it will never happen. Can’t we just have a fight a la Harry Hill between Prescot and the rest of Knowsley – bring em on…I’d pay to see the Huyton inbreds take a beating one on one (unlikely though as they need at least 7 onto 1 before they’ll have a go – Sh!&bags).

btw – The height of confusion will be Father’s Day in Huyton!
