Vote Today: 2011 Local Elections in Prescot & Whiston

Knowsley CouncilThe UK goes to the polls today to elect local councillors across the nation. In today’s local election, people in Prescot and Whiston will be voting for councillors to represent them on Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council and on Prescot and Whiston Town Councils.

If you are entitled to vote, you should have already received a polling card by post. Take it to your local polling station, where you can vote for councillors to represent you on KMBC and your town council.

Today is also a referendum on the Alternative Vote. On your ballot, you will be asked whether you support a new ‘alternative vote’ system for general elections (for MPs) or the current ‘first past the post’ system. For more information on these options, see Yes to Fairer Votes and No to AV.

Find the name and address of your local polling station on the back of your polling card. If you are unsure where to go, phone Knowsley Council’s Elections Office on (0151) 443 2222.
