Michael Causer Memorial Vigil: Video
Almost 100 people gathered last week in the Stanley Street Quarter of Liverpool to commemorate the life and legacy of murdered Whiston teenager Michael Causer.
Michael died on 2 August, 2008, one week after he was the victim of a vicious homophobic attack in neighbouring Huyton. The tragedy has spurred Michael’s family and friends, as well as people across Merseyside, to take a stand against homophobia. Watch highlights of the vigil below:
Earlier this month, the Michael Causer Foundation became a registered charity. From the official website:
The parents of murdered gay teenager Michael Causer have set up this Foundation in his name to provide safe accommodation and support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) young people who are homeless or at risk in the north-west of England.
Michael Causer’s family led Saturday’s Liverpool Pride march, an event that attracted an estimated 40,000 people, double last year’s figures.
