More on Carr Lane, Prescot, Waste Site & Housing Development
Yesterday, I reported that a commercial and industrial waste facility will be built at the old Pirelli/Prysmian/BICC Cables site on Carr Lane, Prescot. There is also talk of a housing development on the adjacent or surrounding land, and there appears to be conflicting information about how the two projects tie together.
Knowsley Council’s planning department have confirmed that the location shown on the planning application from July 2011 is up-to-date and as seen in the aerial map (right, courtesy Google Maps). This application has been granted, so the waste recycling and recovering facility will definitely go ahead.
There has also been an application for a housing development in the same area. This is pending, so planning permission has not yet been granted. The proposed site (left) would actually overlap with the waste facility, so it presumably can’t be approved as it is at the moment.

Yes, the Waste Recycling Facility sits within the housing development area. I suppose the south west section of the housing development will be removed (its currently separated from the rest of the housing development plan by a green / tree belt).

Over the past 100 years Prescot has gone from World reknowned Clock makers with historical victorian buildings history that would rival most English Towns to a dump with nothing and now we have got the Smell to go with it…This must be some kind of record…How many back handers over the years have been issued to get it into this state…???

well said Ian
However, you don’t need to go back 100 years…just to 1974 when Prescot Town Council got usurped by Knowsley Borough Council.
The dregs of scotland road and other sh!tholes in Liverpool shipped out to Huyton Kirkby and Halewood. Now, 3 generations later the crime rate is up, education levels down and Prescot is virtually a scouse heartland. That in itself I have no real issue with, but running the town down is due to Knowsley Councillors who are a bunch of corrupt idiots.
