Welcome to Sunny Whiston?
Whiston Town Council informs me that installation of solar panels is complete at Whiston Town Hall on Dragon Lane. According to a press release, the council is already benefiting from the feed-in tariffs (click here for a rundown on FIT) as well as reducing its carbon footprint.
The town council website gives a handy overview of the latest facts and figures from the system, including energy generated, CO2 emissions avoided and reimbursements received.
The photo shows (left-right) Cllr John Gaffney, Mayor of Whiston Cllr Dave Williams and Town Clerk Sandra Mayers, with the photovoltaic (solar) panels on the town hall roof behind them.
If only now our local government could go the whole hog and conjure up some sun to go with it.
