Work to Begin on New Facility on Prescot Leisure Centre Site

Construction will begin on the replacement for Prescot Leisure Centre later this month.

The facility, which combines a health and fitness area (gym), changing rooms and a coffee bar, is due to open in spring 2013. The old Prescot Leisure Centre was demolished last year. The outdoor hockey and football pitches remain in use. Main leisure facilities, including a swimming pool, in Knowsley are now centralised at the new Knowsley Culture and Leisure Park on Longview Drive, Huyton.

Knowsley Council says local residents can use sports facilities at St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Centre for Learning, in Whiston, and Knowsley Park Centre for Learning, in Prescot, while waiting for the new centre to open on Warrington Road.

Meanwhile, Prescot Town Council, formerly based at Prescot Leisure Centre, has purchased the Fusilier pub at 1 Warrington Road as its new offices and town hall.
