Prescot Hockey Club formed in 1952 as part of the BICC social club in Prescot. In the 1980s, and with the advent of astroturf, Prescot Hockey Club had one of the best facilities in the UK hosting regular inter-league finals and Great Britain Internationals at the Prescot Leisure Centre site on Warrington Road. In fact, GB warmed up with two matches at Prescot before heading to Seoul in 1988 to win our only Hockey Gold Medal!
Currently, Prescot Hockey Club have been playing at Edmund Arrowsmith School (the old Higher Side site in Whiston) and have training on Tuesdays for over 14s at 8pm -to 9pm at the school. Prescot currently run four senior teams (two men’s and two women’s) and are looking for new and old members to join the club as they look to expand and grow over the coming seasons. We also run a vets team for over 40s.
The Prescot Ladies are currently playing in the Manchester League and sit top of the league unbeaten.
Anyone wanting to join a friendly, social sports club should call down to Edmund Arrowsmith on Cumber Lane Tuesdays 8pm – 9pm every week. All skills and abilities catered for with full qualified and CRB-checked coaching.
We are keen to recruit new players from St Helens, Rainhill and Prescot schools and colleges.
