Knowsley residents are also being encouraged to enjoy a greener Christmas – thanks to some top tips from the council’s recycling team.
Remember to recycle:
- wrapping paper – non foil variety – but don’t forget to fold it flat and remove labels, tags, bows and Sellotape.
- Christmas cards – no hand crafted cards
- Glass bottles, jars, drinks, food cans and plastic bottles.
Other top tips:
- Flatten cardboard boxes before dropping them into your recycling bin. Remove any plastic wrapping and polystyrene packaging.
- Please don’t dispose of plastic bags in your recycling bin. Try to reuse them as much as possible and why not buy a bag-for-life?
- When shopping make a list and stick to it. A third of food shopping bought over Christmas is thrown away!
- Why not make a New Year’s resolution to use your kerbside recycling service, the bring bank sites or MRWA Household Waste Recycling Centres.
Householders wishing to recycle their real Christmas trees can drop them off from Saturday, 29 December 2012 to Sunday, 6 January, 2013, at the following recycling points:
- Halewood Park, Okell Drive, Halewood
- Stadt Moers Park, Pottery Lane, Whiston
- Millbrook Park, Millennium Green, Old Hall Lane, Kirkby
- Court Hey Park, Roby Road, Huyton
- Holy Family Social Club, Cronton
