Victory for Prescot Hockey Ladies
(Thanks to David Johnson of Prescot Hockey Club for this update, and congratulations to the Prescot ladies’ team.)
Prescot Hockey Ladies secured their first silverware of the season with a hard-fought 1-0 win over the University of Manchester. Sue Allen scored the only goal of the final, and the ladies played really well in front of a partisan Manchester crowd.
The ladies also had another cup game over the same weekend and beat the high flying Didsbury Greys 2-0 to reach the semifinal of the Greater Manchester All Division Cup. Two goals from Amanda Stott secured the victory against a team who had only lost once this season and play in a higher league than Prescot. In the semifinal Prescot will take on Urmston Ladies, the only other undefeated team in the Greater Manchester league.
Prescot Ladies have also secured promotion at the first attempt to the Greater Manchester Division one and are currently 18 points clear of their nearest rivals, who they thrashed 8-0 at the weekend.
