Strikes Affect Prescot and Whiston Schools Thursday
Several schools in Prescot and Whiston will be affected by nationwide teachers’ strikes on Thursday 27 June.
In Prescot, the following schools will be shut or partially shut:
- Prescot County Primary School (closed)
- Evelyn Community Primary School (partially closed – phone 0151 477 8570)
- Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School (partially closed – phone 0151 477 8220)
- St Mary & St Paul’s Primary School (closed to pupils)
- St Luke’s Primary School (closed to pupils)
- Knowsley Park Centre for Learning (closed to pupils)
In Whiston, the following schools are closed to pupils:
- Halsnead Community Primary School
- St Leo’s & Southmead Catholic Primary School
- Whiston Willis Primary School
Prescot Online readers have reported that St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Centre for Learning in Whiston is also closing; this was not on the list provided by Knowsley Council, however.
The National Union of Teachers (NUT) and National Association of Women decided on strike action in response to government plans to change pay, conditions, working hours and pensions.
