Prescot Businesswoman Named Merseyside Woman of the Year
Prescot businesswoman Louise Gillespie has been named Merseyside Woman of the Year.
Owner of the rapidly expanding Jessies Jewels, Louise set up the business to provide her daughter with a part-time job during her A-levels. Three years later, daughter Jess is financially self-sufficient and planning to take a year out before university to help with the business.
Louise did it all while reeling from a divorce and working four days a week at Huyton solicitors Mackrell & Thomas.
She told Facebook fans she was “in total shock” after winning the award last Friday.
Following the high-profile win, Louise was asked to become Patron of Amy and Friends, a Liverpool-based charity providing support to children and families living with Cockayne Syndrome.
She confesses she still won’t watch the video of the moment her victory was announced and she stepped on stage to receive her prize.
