Prescot Foodbank Now Open
Prescot now has its own Foodbank, based in the Salvation Army Church and Community Centre on Warrington Road.
Set up as part of Knowsley Foodbank, in partnership with The Trussell Trust, the Prescot Foodbank provides emergency help for people struggling to make ends meet.
Professionals such as clergy, police, doctors, social and health workers and people in other care-related professions refer those in need with a voucher, which they can exchange for three days’ food.
While at the Foodbank, clients can also have a hot drink or a meal, and talk to volunteers about what other help is available.
The Prescot Foodbank is open from 11.30am to 2.00pm on Wednesdays, but emergency help is available outside official opening times, through the Knowsley-wide Foodbank network.
Several churches in Prescot have collaborated on the project, and you can donate non-perishable food items through a church near you.
Suggested items include UHT or powdered milk, sugar, rice, pasta, pasta sauces, biscuits, cereal, tea bags, instant coffee, and tinned meat, fish, soup, fruit and vegetables.
Phone 0151 546 0470 to find out more, or visit the Knowsley Foodbank website.
