Leyland Street Works Delayed

leyland_street_prescot_new_treesPrescot residents will have to wait a little longer to see Leyland Street back to normal.

The historic street, off Eccleston Street in the town centre, was shut in March so that trees could be replaced.

The old trees’ roots were ripping up pavements and interfering with the road and buildings, posing both an inconvenience and a danger to pedestrians, property owners and road users.

Road signs indicated the work would last four months (completion mid-July), but Knowsley Council have announced a delay, “due to a number of engineering difficulties experienced as the work progressed, including unchartered utility apparatus such as cables and pipes.”

Completion is now expected at the end of August.
