The Make a Difference team, from Prescot Community Church’s Chill Youthy, will set off in August for the Republic Pilgrim Christian orphanage in Mariupol.

The group visited last year (pictured) with members of Knowsley Housing Trust to renovate the facilities.

This year, 16 young people and seven adults will return to decorate bedrooms and spend time on trips and other fun activities with the children.

They will also take much-needed supplies, including clothes and toiletries.

The children of Pilgrim are rescued from living on the streets or in basements, often with health problems and drug addiction. They receive care, rehabilitation and the opportunity for a normal life.

The Make a Difference visit is a chance for the Ukrainian children to enjoy activities such as football tournaments, dance classes, arts and crafts, and trips to the beach and a fun park.

The Prescot youth volunteers will learn the value of empathy, hard work and making a positive contribution to the community.

Participant Janet Thomas is appealing to individuals, businesses and community groups for donations of:

  • New clothes
  • New shoes
  • Toys
  • Arts & crafts materials (including bobbles, ribbons, etc)
  • Toiletries

Call Janet on 07707977654 to arrange collection or drop-off.
