And the Winner Is…
Back in June, I set Prescot Online readers a challenge:
Prescot Online’s campaign to inspire a passion for change in the town needs a slogan.
Do you love Prescot? Do you want to see people get involved in the community, volunteer their efforts and make a difference in the town you’re proud of?
Come up with the best slogan, and you’ll win lunch for two at Poco, Eccleston Street’s newest and classiest coffee shop.
First, a big thank-you to Viv Frodsham and Geoff Ormesher, who helped pick a winner.
And now, the winner.
A £20 voucher for Poco Prescot will very soon be on its way to… Carol May, for the slogan “Let’s get the pride back in Prescot.”
Look out in the near future for more about Prescot Online’s campaign to inspire community pride in the town.

Sorry but that isn’t a slogan its more of a statement you should be more clear of what you actually want next time

A slogan is a memorable motto such as ‘should have gone to specsavers’ or ‘every little helps’ I think the slogan you have chosen doesn’t sound very appealing to the outside consumers, why would you visit somewhere that hasn’t got any pride in itself?

Hi, Nicky.
The competition rules stated that the slogan wasn’t to attract visitors to the town. It was to inspire local people to a passion for change and encourage Prescotians to get involved in the community.
Two readers and I looked at the entries and felt the idea of getting the pride back in Prescot summed it up well.

Well done Carol!
NickyG and Nicky – I don’t really understand your negative attitude. Anything to inspire some positive thoughts/feelings around your hometown (and possibly win a prize) is surely a good thing no?

I have held back two further comments which appear to be from sockpuppets, where one person posts from the same location under different names (one computer, three different names, in this case).
I’ve banned commenters before for this kind of behaviour, and I’ll ban the user in question if they try it again.
Cheers, all!

I sent a slogan, not a mission statement – oh well. Something that made Prescotians realise that there will always be pride there and that they ought buy from local & independent shops.
