Whiston Teenager Dies Suddenly
A teenage girl from Whiston died suddenly on Saturday night (7 September)
Megan Hopwood, 13, was found collapsed on Eglington Avenue, near Whiston Village.
Members of the public flagged down a passing police patrol car at 9.10pm, and Megan was rushed to Whiston Hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead.
A post-mortem will establish the cause of death, and police have confirmed they are still investigating the incident.
A tribute page set up on Facebook has gained almost 4,000 fans already.
In a public post on the page, Megan’s dad, Paul Hopwood, said the tribute was “a great comfort,” and said he was “so proud of the young lady she was becoming.”
He ended, “RIP Meggie Moo.”
An informal gathering is set to take place outside Tesco Express, on Windy Arbor Road, on Friday 13 September at 6pm.
Anyone with information about what happened is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 0151 777 6560.
