Save Whiston Library? It’s Time to Act

By on Thursday, September 19, 2013

Whiston_Library_KnowsleyWhiston Library is under threat.

In Knowsley Council’s words, it’s being “transferred to community ownership and use.” For the people of Whiston, however, that means something more like, “Find a way to run the library yourselves, or it’s closing down.”

If you value Whiston Library, it’s time to act. Unless the people that make up our community volunteer their time and hard work to keep it going, we’ll lose it.

Knowsley Council is hosting two public meetings, where council officers will explain what’s happening and answer questions about keeping Whiston Library as a community-run resource:

Tuesday, 24 September, 3.00 – 4.30pm
George Howard Centre, Lickers Lane, Whiston L35 3SR

Tuesday, 1 October, 6.00 – 7.30pm
St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Centre for Learning, Cumber Lane, Whiston, L35 3XG

If you care about the issues and can donate your time and efforts to keeping Whiston Library open, I urge you to attend.
