Police Investigate Double Arson Attack on Prescot Homes

By on Thursday, September 26, 2013

Detectives are investigating two arson attempts on Hayes Avenue, Prescot, last night (Wednesday 25 September).

Officers arrived at the first house to investigate an attack at around 9.20pm. A second was reported at 9.30pm at a house on the opposite end of the same street.

Police suspect petrol bombs were thrown through the windows of the houses but failed to ignite. The fires caused minimal damage, and no one was injured.

Three children were present at one address, however, and one child at the other.

Detectives believe the houses were deliberately targeted, and are examining CCTV footage and conducting house-to-house enquiries to find out more.

“We are working hard to identify the person(s) responsible, and I’m sure local residents would agree that they need to be brought to justice,” said Detective Chief Inspector Steve Cox.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time, who may have any information about this incident, to get in contact. Did you see someone on foot or in a car in the area acting suspiciously? Any information you may have could assist our investigation.”

Anyone with information can call Merseyside Police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
