Christmas Lights Switch-on a Success
(Press release: Prescot Town Council)
For the second year running, Prescot Town Council and Prescot Town Team have worked in partnership to deliver an excellent Christmas Light Switch On event. Once again Knowsley Council obliged by delaying the light switch-on until the 30th of November so that the event could be held at the weekend.
This year Father Christmas was busier than ever as almost 180 local children visited his grotto, each child received a free selection pack and photo as an early Christmas present.
The free Willow craft workshop was a hive of activity with families making their own Christmas decorations, whilst other attractions included the ever popular ‘Little’ Donkey rides, children’s fairground rides, free face painting, live radio road show and refreshments which included free mince pies donated by Ray’s Bakery.
The climax of the event saw seven year old Lillian May Johnson of Prescot County Primary winner of this years Colouring Competition helping the Mayor and Mayoress of Prescot, Cllr Dave and Jackie Rigby, switch on the Christmas Lights. As the winner of the colouring competition, Lillian May also scooped £50 in vouchers for Rennie’s Arts and Crafts.
Finally for anyone that did not get to see Father Christmas on Saturday, he will back in Prescot this coming Saturday (7 December) at the shopping centre.
