By on Tuesday, February 4, 2014

Knowsley Metropolitan Borough CouncilKnowsley Council is looking for unemployed young people who want to learn a trade.

No experience is necessary to become a Knowsley apprentice – just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn new skills.

According to the council, most of the hundreds of young apprentices they’ve helped train since 2008 went on to find a full-time job.

Apprentices are paid the national minimum wage – £6.31 aged 21 and over, £5.03 aged 18-20, and £3.72 aged 16-17 – to train to NVQ Level 3 while on a work placement.

They also have a personal mentor for support and an opportunity to secure permanent employment at the end of the placement.

Businesses taking part get the benefit of a subsidised young employee, and a training and support package tailored to their industry’s relevant skills.

Current apprenticeship vacancies include roles in finance, customer service, business administration and human resources. More information and details of all opportunities are online at www.knowsley.gov.uk.

Alternatively, call Knowsley Apprentices on 0151 443 5953.

The closing date for applications is Friday 21 February 2014.
