Actor Ken Jones, 83, Dies at Home in Prescot

The Liverpool-born actor Ken Jones has passed away at a nursing home in Prescot.

A familiar face on TV, he played ‘Horrible’ Bernard Ives opposite Ronnie Barker in the BBC sitcom Porridge.

He also appeared as Uncle Dermot in The Liver Birds and had returned in several different character roles in programmes such as CasualtyDoctors and Peak Practice.

He retired to Wales with his wife, Sheila, but returned to Merseyside to be near family after her death in August 2013.

He passed away last Thursday, 13 February, aged 83.
