Prescot Community Award Winners Revealed
An appreciative crowd gathered at Prescot Shopping Centre earlier this month to find out the winners of the first ever Prescot Community Awards.
The centre launched the awards in partnership with Prescot Online to honour Prescot’s unsung heroes.
Judges Karen Maloney, of Renaissance Health & Beauty, and Rosemary Tyler, the former curator of Prescot Museum and a historian at Liverpool John Moores University, chose seven winners from among dozens of nominations.
Prescot Online is now proud to present the full list of winners:
- Bernard Hillier (999 Services)
- Mary Cowie (Best Neighbour)
- Darren & Anne Marie Smith (Best Customer Service)
- Jon Hill (Best Community Worker)
- Helen McCann (Best Teacher)
- Roy Alexander (Best Charity Worker)
The judges were so impressed by another nominee, Stephen Nulty, that they gave him an award as a ‘special mention’ for his sterling work in compiling the Prescot Roll of Honour website, which pays tributes to Prescot’s WWI soldiers.
After the ceremony, which took place on Saturday 1 March, winners, nominees and attendees were treated to a complimentary buffet and a glass of Buck’s Fizz.
“It was brilliant to be able to reward each of these fantastic individuals for everything they have given to the community over the years,” said shopping centre manager Victoria Nichol. “It was a great event, and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting our winners.”
