WICH Raises £500 towards New Cemetery Chapel
Members of the Whiston Initiative & Culture Heritage raised £500 for their charity over the Mother’s Day weekend.
WICH aims to raise enough money to build a memorial chapel at Knowsley Cemetery on Fox’s Bank Lane. The building will incorporate architectural features rescued from the now-demolished Whiston Hospital Chapel.
Members sold hand-crafted mementos such as hearts and windmills for visitors to place on graves, bringing in donations expected to bring their total so far to over £13,000.
The group have a fundraiser lined up for Friday 20 June, with dinner and entertainment, including live music and comedy, at Fiveways Hotel in Ormskirk. Ticket details will be announced soon.
WICH would like to thank staff and students of St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Centre for Learning for designing and printing their banner.
