Cancer Awareness Van Coming to Prescot, Whiston
Merseyside and Cheshire Cancer Network’s iVAN is hitting the streets of Prescot this week, helping to raise awareness and early detection of cancer.
Cancer specialists will be on-hand to identify symptoms, refer residents to their GP, offer support as well as raising awareness of the issue.
On Tuesday 8 April, the iVAN will be outside Tesco Extra on Cables Retail Park, Prescot, from 10am to 4pm.
It will be back in the area on Friday 23 May, from 10am to 4pm at Whiston Hospital. It also visits Halewood Shopping Centre on Wednesdau 23 April and Stockbridge Village on Monday 12 May.
No appointment is necessary, and people can talk to one of the Cancer Information Specialists or a Cancer Specialist Nurse face-to-face. It’s free and completely confidential.
“We want to ensure that cancer advice and support is accessible within our communities, as well as through your GP,” said Matthew Ashton, Director of Public Health in Knowsley.
“The iVAN is the ideal way to help us engage with residents and pass on vital information about the signs and symptoms to look out for. A visit to the iVAN really can save lives.”
