Prescot Co-op Robber Jailed for Two Years
A Prescot man who robbed a Co-operative Food store at knifepoint has been sentenced to two years in prison.
Anthony Furlong, 25, left the Co-op on Warrington Road, Prescot, with £70 in cash on the morning of Friday 7 March, after threatening the two staff members with a seven-inch kitchen knife.
Furlong, who lived across the road from the shop on the Beaconsfield estate, pleaded guilty to robbery, possession of a knife, possession of cocaine, and two counts of theft.
The defence said that alcohol, drugs and mental illness contributed to his behaviour, and said Furlong wanted to apologise to his victims.
The Co-operative was robbed in a separate incident two weeks later.
