Prescot Woman Wins Diabetes UK Award
A Prescot woman who helped raise over £1,000 for Diabetes UK has been awarded for her work.
Barbara Graves won the Tesco Team Leader Award at the charity’s regional Inspire Awards last month.
Barbara, who was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes 10 years ago, recruited volunteers to collect donations at Tesco Extra in Prescot, raising £1,199 over the 2013 Diabetes UK Big Collection weekend.
“I really enjoyed meeting other volunteers and customers,” said Barbara, “and I am flattered that my role has been recognised with this award.”
Helen Pattie of Diabetes UK added that Barbara had “an extremely positive and enthusiastic attitude.”
She loved the experience so much, she’s volunteering to do the same again this year.
The Prescot Tesco Extra Big Collection (13, 14 and 15 June 2014) will need 16 volunteers. To find out more about how you can help, contact Jo Cunnah at n.westvolunteering@diabetes.
