Via Prescot Town Council:

The Town Council would like to thank all those who attended this year’s Carnival and helped make it the best one in recent years.

A beautiful sunny day meant that approximately 3,000 people attended the Carnival this year and were able to enjoy the variety of free activities on offer, which included a reptile workshop, a variety of inflatables, full programme of entertainment, circus skills workshop and cage football, together with donkey rides the fun fair, and the many stalls that make up the carnival.

The Prescot Carnival is organised by Prescot Town Council’s Events committee which comprises of elected members, council staff and volunteers from a variety of local community organisations. The event is also supported by Prescot Army Cadets who were joined this year by the Huyton Squadron who provide an invaluable support with the infrastructure set up and take down.

The Town Council have also worked with local businesses (Devlin’s Butchers of Eccleston Street and Ray’s Bakery of High Street) to provide refreshments through our catering team.

The Mayors Parade

prescot_carnival_paradeIt was only last year when the Events committee decided to re-establish the Mayors Parade and already the participation rates have increased. Around 100 local residents took part in the parade which was led by the Army Cadet Band who played a number of well-known military and other tunes and comprised of local children from the Brownies and Guides, Prescot Cables Junior teams and Playworld. Once again the Town Council and the Mayor would like to thank everyone who took part and helped to make the Parade a big success.
