Prescot Post Office Move to Shopping Centre
The Post Office has announced plans to move its Prescot town centre branch to Prescot Shopping Centre.
A move from the current Aspinall Street location (pictured) has been in the pipeline since March 2013, when losses of £40 million led to changes to 70 Crown Post Offices across the UK.
If the October 2014 move goes ahead, Wigan-based MTM Trading will run the business in Unit 10 on the lower floor of the centre, the shop previously occupied by stationery retailer Paper Cuts.
The Post Office says the new location offers longer hours and better accessibility. The proposed opening times are 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 5.30pm Saturday.
The plans say “select Post Office services” will be available but does not specify which services.
A public consultation on the proposals is open until 20 August 2014.
