Prospective Whiston MP Rimmer Charged with Assault
By Prescot Online on Friday, September 19, 2014
Former St Helens Council Leader Marie Rimmer was charged with assault while campaigning in Scotland yesterday (Thursday 18 September).
Cllr Rimmer was campaigning against Scottish independence at a polling station in the Shettleston area of Glasgow, when she allegedly assaulted a female during a dispute.
She was arrested and charged just after lunchtime.
The politician was recently selected as Labour candidate for the St Helens South and Whiston constituency in the 2015 General Election, as current MP Shaun Woodward stands down.
