Work on Memorial Chapel Underway in Whiston
A project to build a memorial chapel from what remains of the old Whiston Hospital Chapel begins this month.
Whiston Initiative in Cultural Heritage have preserved key elements of the Victorian building, including stonework and a stained glass window.
The new chapel will be built in Knowsley Cemetery on Fox’s Bank Lane, Whiston.
Sue Brandreth, from partners Vinci Construction, the company behind the new Whiston Hospital, said it was with “great delight” that they were helping WICH to “put something back into the community.”
The project kicks off with a sod-turning ceremony at the cemetery on Wednesday 22 October at 2pm.
