Knowsley Council Appoints New, Cheaper CEO
Knowsley Council is set to promote Deputy Chief Executive Mike Harden to the role of Chief Executive, following the departure of Sheena Ramsey earlier this month.
Ms Ramsey took voluntary redundancy, and the new post will be on a reduced salary.
Ramsey received over £227,000 a year including benefits, but KMBC have declined to reveal how much she will receive from her walk-away deal, citing confidentiality under the Data Protection Act.
KMBC also would not say how much Harden will paid in the post, but said both figures would be revealed at the end of the year in the council’s statement of accounts.
The deputy post has been scrapped in the restructuring, to save money, and four more directors will be appointed to complete the executive team.
The restructuring takes effect from 1 November, and councillors will formally approve the new structure at a meeting on Wednesday 5 November.
More redundancies are expected in the face of severe budget cuts. Their workforce has already been reduced by 27 percent, and they say the latest changes will save £800,000.
