Remembrance Day Parade & Civic Service in Prescot
The annual Remembrance Day parade and civic service takes place in Prescot this Sunday, 9 November.
Marchers assemble at 9.45am at Prescot Primary School on Maryville Road. The parade leaves at 10.25am, passing through St James Road, Warrington Road, Kemble Street and Market Place before arriving at the cenotaph.
The ceremony begins outdoors at 10.50am, with the traditional silence at 11am, and is followed immediately by a civic service in the neighbouring Prescot Parish Church of St Mary.
Other civic acts of remembrance on Sunday are at Kirkby Cenotaph on Cherryfield Drive at 10.30am, and Huyton Cenotaph on Civic Way at 10.40am.
This year’s Remembrance Day commemorates 100 years since the outbreak of World War One.
Update: Prescot Town Council will be holding an Act of Remembrance for Armistice Day at 10.45am on Tuesday 11 November at the BICC Memorial in St Mary’s Churchyard. All are welcome, and refreshments follow in Prescot Town Hall.
