Following the recent opening of M&S’ new Simply Food store at Cables Retail Park in Prescot, store manager Stuart Williams shares his top picks from the much-anticipated Christmas food range, which is now available in stores.

m&s_logo“Every year Christmas seems to creep up on us, so make sure you’re prepared and plan your parties and dinners in advance,” says Stuart.

“Christmas is a great occasion to spend time with your family and friends and always involves lots of delicious food and drink. We have some fantastic, never-before-seen dishes in-store, which provide a modern take on original classics.

“Products such as the Christmas Dinner in a Pie, Brussel Sprout Juice and a new Chocolate Stollen Log, are certain to wow your guests, whether you’re hosting a lavish Christmas party or intimate family dinner.”

My Top suggestions for Christmas Food and Drink are:

Cheese Selection with Edible Cheese BoardChristmas is a time for sharing so it is a great idea to provide a range of nibbles and canapés when hosting guests. Why not try the new M&S Edible Cheese Board. It will make a great centre piece for the table as well as a definite conversation starter. This innovative way to serve your cheese includes plate sized Artisan Crisp breads and delicious pieces of mature blue Stilton, mild creamy Camembert and extra mature Cheddar (£15.00, 570g).

12 Mini Christmas Dinner on a StickIf you have planned a party for a large number of guests, don’t deprive them of the traditional delicious Christmas dinner. M&S has launched its own Mini Christmas Dinners on a stick. These delicious, mouth-sized pinchos host all the best parts of Christmas dinner and will be a favourite at any party (£7.00, 270g).

The first thing people think of when it comes to Christmas is the traditional turkey dinner but if you wanted to try something a little different this year, M&S has some great alternatives.

Collection Aberdeen Angus Rump Roulade with Mushroom & SpinachWhy not try the M&S Angus Rump Roulade with Mushroom and Spinach (£25, 1.18kg). The 28-day matured beef is beautifully juicy and is complemented perfectly with a rich mushroom filling layered with spinach.

Another great new product launching this year is the M&S Whole Baked Pear and Stilton Pie (£10.00, 930g). Made by experts in Leicestershire, the pie is layered with selected cuts of pork, crumbled long Clawson Stilton cheese and a fruity layer of pear chutney. Hidden inside is a whole juicy pear and to wrap it all up is a rich crumbly hot water crust pastry. This is set to be a new favourite this year.

Collection 6 Mince PiesChristmas isn’t complete without a selection of Mince Pies. M&S’ buttery short crust pastry Collection Mince Pies, filled with our special collection mincemeat recipe, will always be a big hit with customers (£2.50, 390g).

Another Christmas must-have is the Christmas Pudding. Why not try M&S’ Collection Intensely Fruity Clementine & Cranberry Christmas Pudding (£14, 907g)? Hand-decorated with glace orange slices and dusted with gold lustre, this is the perfect dessert to indulge in after Christmas Dinner.

White Chocolate IglooIf Christmas Pudding isn’t for you, then M&S’ White Chocolate Igloo (£18, 805g) is the perfect alternative. Filled with creamy raspberry compote and all-butter sponge completed with a raspberry penguin and chocolate log fire, this is guaranteed to be a firm favourite with the whole family.

As we know, Christmas is the time to be merry and M&S has launched some great new tipples to help celebrate the festive season in style. Why not try our new Gold G &Tea? Gold G&TeaThis blend of Gin and M&S’ luxury Gold Tea with apple, elderflower and a touch and lemongrass is a great treat served best over ice (£11.99, 50cl).

And, if you’re too full for Christmas cake, M&S has created the perfect solution; Christmas Cake Liqueur. This deliciously rich and fruity liqueur is the perfect after dinner tipple, encompassing the favourite Christmas cake flavours of brandy and raisins (£9.99, 35cl).
