By on Tuesday, January 13, 2015

shakespeare_north_theatre_prescotThe Shakespeare North Trust presents its planning application for an Elizabethan theatre and college on 17 January to Knowsley Council.

The new Prescot town centre venue could be open by 2019 if all goes according to plan.

The period-style theatre, a tribute to the 17th-century Prescot Playhouse – the first and most important freestanding theatre outside London in its day – would be a centre of education and performance to attract audiences and students from across the country.

Backers include Sir Patrick Stewart, Dame Helen Mirren and Sir Paul McCartney.

You can support the planning application by filling in the form below as soon as possible. First, view the complete presentation at Shakespearenorth.org (PDF download) or read more about the project on Prescot Online.

The consultation form is now
closed to new submissions.

Fantastic if this happens, this an opportunity to be part of the international pull of Shakespeare, which should benefit the immediate community in addition to the whole of the North West; Well done and good luck
