Merseyside Police has issued a CCTV image of a woman officers believe may have important information after a purse was taken from a shop in Prescot on Thursday, 22 January 2015.

At around 10.40am, a woman went into a shop on Eccleston Street, bought some items then left her purse behind by mistake on the counter.

It’s believed another woman walked into the shop a short while after and picked up the purse from the counter then left the shop without speaking to the shopkeeper.

Enquiries into the incident are continuing and CCTV from the area has been located and reviewed.

Inspector Kirsty Jennett said: “We are keeping an open mind about what has happened during the incident and are working hard to establish the full circumstances.

“We believe that the woman shown in the CCTV image may have been in the area around the time of the incident and could have information which could help us with our inquiries.

“I would appeal to her, or anyone who recognises her, to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information can call officers in Knowsley via the 101 number or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
