Rainhill, Liverpool Property Searches over, Terrorism Suspect Remains in Custody
Counter terrorism searches on properties in Rainhill and Liverpool have come to an end, and a suspect remains in custody.
Police, in conjunction with the North West Counter Terrorism Unit, raided the former Rocklands Hotel on View Road, Rainhill, on the morning of Wednesday 11 February.
They raided four other addresses in the Kensington and Old Swan areas of Liverpool, where they arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of “involvement in commission, preparation or instigation of terrorist acts.”
Several items were seized during the raids, and police say the commercial premises in Rainhill were searched purely because of their connection with the arrested man.
No evidence suggests an imminent terrorist threat, nationally or internationally.
