Prescot Ladies’ Seconds Win Promotion on Dramatic Final Day of Season
Prescot Hockey Club: 2014/15 Season Review
The ladies’ first team are now playing in the North Feeder league and have been playing at a much higher standard this season than ever before.
Credit must go to club coach Mark Heaps for his extra work, and the ladies have had a very good season, finishing a commendable 8th in their first season. Highlights included a nine-match unbeaten run and a 2-2 draw against high-flying Alderley Edge.
The mens’s first XI set a new club record, scoring a very impressive 104 goals in 20 league games, including four games in double figures. Prescot secured fifth place in Division 3, with plenty to build on over the summer.
The ladies’ second XI are celebrating back-to-back promotions in the Greater Manchester league, with a dramatic 8-3 win over Glossop. With nearest rival Didsbury winning as well, Prescot secured promotion by two goals!
The men’s seconds have had the best season in many years, with an impressive 29 points from 16 games, and were unlucky to miss out on promotion with a top three finish.
The mixed team are into the fourth round of the national trophy after a convincing 8-4 win in Stafford.
Prescot Hockey Club also run Sportivate junior hockey sessions for 11- to 24-year-olds, and these will continue over the summer on Wednesday evenings at Sutton Leisure Centre.
We are also running Back to Hockey for all seniors who fancy picking up a stick again by encouraging older and former players to return to the game with mixed hockey, veterans hockey and vintage hockey being played over the spring and summer.
