Prescot Woman Charged with Attempted Murder of Baby

baby_april_southport_prescotThe mother of a newborn baby abandoned in Southport last week has been arrested and charged.

The child was found in Silcock’s Amusement Arcade on Nevill Street, Southport, on Thursday 16 April. She had been left in the disabled toilets.

Hospital staff named her April. She is now safe and well.

Police tracked down her 29-year-old mother on Friday, following a Merseyside-wide appeal.

Now police have charged the woman, from Prescot, with attempted murder and child cruelty. She appears before South Sefton Magistrates Court today (Wednesday 22 April).

Update: The woman, Nicola Glover, was refused bail and is awaiting an appearance at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday 6 May 2015.
