Prescot Student Helps Raise £1.1K in Charity Run
A Prescot teenager ran 10 kilometres in memory of a fellow student on 10 May.
Zwe Pyae Sone, 17, of Elm Grove, dusted off his running shoes to join thousands of others in the Bupa Great Manchester Run.
Along with 17 other students from Abbey College, Manchester, where he is studying his A levels, he completed the tough city centre race to raise money in memory of fellow student Ben Stollery, who died recently.
They reached their £1,100 goal for Young Minds, a national charity committed to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people.
“Zwe was motivational and enthusiastic and a pleasure to run with,” said Liz Elam, principal of Abbey College. “Both the run itself and training are great team building exercises and help give the students confidence.”
Zwe said, “It was a hard run but so satisfying to complete it, especially as we all did it with Ben in our thoughts.”
