Whiston KFC off the Menu
Plans to build a fast food drive-thru restaurant and near Whiston Hospital have fallen through.
Developers wanted to demolish the Green Dragon pub and build a new complex in its place, with a KFC at its heart, alongside a new bookmakers and convenience store.
Knowsley Planning turned down the application to transform the site on the corner of Dragon Lane and Warrington Road, however.
They cited environmental issues and traffic safety concerns among the reasons for the refusal, as well as the potential negative impact on Prescot town centre.
The applicant appealed against the council’s decision, but the government backed up the refusal.
