Our Gilly Nominated for Lancs Tourism Award

gillyBBC Radio Lancashire presenter John Gillmore has been nominated for a Lancashire Tourism Award for the second year running.

A proud Prescotian, Gilly, as he is affectionately known, has spent three decades on Lancashire’s airwaves, “living, loving and breathing our fantastic county and shouting about everything that’s great and good about Lancashire,” according to Lancashire Marketing.

“You’ll regularly find him out and about broadcasting from locations across the county, meeting the people and sharing his passion for Lancashire with listeners and visitors from far and wide,” they continued.

“Gilly knows Lancashire, he loves Lancashire and he believes in Lancashire.”

He joins four other candidates, shortlisted for their “special contribution” to the tourism industry in Lancashire.

Votes must be cast by Sunday 19 October. The winner will be announced at the Lancashire Tourism Awards 2015 on Thursday 5 November at Blackpool Winter Gardens, Blackpool.

Although Prescot became part of the new metropolitan county of Merseyside in 1974, many of its residents still identify as part of the ceremonial county of Lancashire, and proudly celebrate their Lancastrian heritage and history.
