Halloween & Bonfire Night in Prescot

halloweenThere’s lots coming up for all the family this Halloween and Bonfire Night in Prescot.

There’s an early Halloween treat at Prescot Library on Tuesday 27 October, when children can make Halloween masks (free, materials supplied) between 2.30pm and 3.30pm.

Keep out of mischief on Mischief Night with the Phoenix Night Event on Bryer Road (off Cross Lane, Shaw Lane), Prescot, from 4pm to 9pm on Friday 30 October. This free, fun-packed community event features a family-friendly funfair, a breakdancing showcase and workshop, climbing wall, magic show, a fireworks display (8pm, weather-permitting) and much more.

Then, from 5pm to 7pm on Friday at Whitakers Garden Centre (Liverpool Road), there’s a free Halloween Night, with haunted house, ghost hunt, fancy dress & pumpkin contests & more.

On Halloween itself, Saturday, 31 October, free kids’ crafts and other activities take place from 10am to 4pm in Prescot Shopping Centre, including Halloween Shadow Puppet Making for Family First Saturday at the Library & Museum from 12.30pm to 3pm.

Meanwhile, the first ever Prescot Toy & Comic Fair is on from 10am to 3pm at Prescot Methodist Centre in Atherton Street. As well as an array of cool collectibles and retro memorabilia, there’ll be a guest appearance from actress Hattie Hayridge (Holly in cult BBC comedy/sci-fi series Red Dwarf).

wizards_questAt 12 noon, 1pm and 2pm, you can join The Wizard’s Quest in the fairy-filled woodlands of Prescot Parish Church. This interactive theatre treat (50 minutes) takes you on a magical trail in search of Miranda, the daughter of the Great Wizard. Tickets are only £2.50 for children and £4 for adults, and are available in advance from Poco Coffee (30 Eccleston Street) or www.mateproductions.co.uk.

Prescot Bonfires & Fireworks Displays

On Friday 6 November, enjoy a Bonfire & Fireworks Display at Prescot & Odyssey Cricket Club on Burrows Lane. The evening kicks off at 7pm, and the bar is open all night. Food will be available. Entry is £2.50.

Saturday 7 November sees one of Merseyside’s biggest bonfires, with the Prescot Rotary Bonfire & Firework Display.

The gates open at 5.30pm at Whitakers Garden Centre, Liverpool Road, for this popular annual event, which includes the lighting of the bonfire at 7pm and spectacular fireworks at 7.30pm, plus funfair rides and food stalls.

Prices on the gate are £7 for adults, £6 for children and £15 for a family ticket (2+2), and under-5s are free. Buy in advance from Whitakers to save £1 on individual tickets (family ticket price remains the same).
