Remembrance Sunday Services in Prescot, Whiston & Rainhill
Remembrance Sunday will be observed with ceremonies in Prescot, Whiston and Rainhill on 8 November.
In Prescot, the Civic Act of Remembrance begins at 10.50am at the War Memorial, off Market Place. The traditional silence is kept at 11am, and the service continues inside Prescot Parish Church of St Mary’s.
In Whiston, the Service of Remembrance begins at 10am at St Nicholas’s Church (Whiston Parish Church) on Windy Arbor Road.
In Rainhill, the main civic service takes place at St Ann’s Church at 10.30am, with silence at 11am.
Then, at 11.45am, all Rainhill churches, ex-servicemen, dignitaries and other organisations meet across the road at the War Memorial, where a short ceremony will include another silence, a few words from veteran Tom Blackburn, and music by Parr Band.
Refreshments follow at the nearby Rainhill Ex-Services’ Club on Warrington Road.
