Prescot Christmas Lights Switch-on 2015
A community partnership has saved Christmas for Prescot town centre.
While most towns in Knowsley will be in the dark this year, due to strained council budgets, community support has ensured Prescot will have its usual Christmas lights, decorations and festivities.
Prescot Town Council, Prescot Town Team and Prescot Shopping Centre owners Geraud/Market Village will fund the lights and a spectacular switch-on event. Local independent trader Neil Murray, of ASH Electrical & Fire Services, has also stepped in to provide lights, and Richard Rainford of Rainfords Christmas Tree Land donated two trees – one large tree for Church Street and a smaller one for Prescot Cemetery.
The celebrations begin at 2.30pm on Saturday 28 November on Eccleston Street, with fairground rides, donkey rides, entertainment and live music, alongside games, community stalls and family activities, such as a Willow Craft workshop.
Santa will be in his grotto on the ground floor of the shopping centre (£4 per child).
The big switch-on takes place on Eccleston Street at 5pm.
