Rainhill Man Dead after Motorway Bridge Fall

m62_motorway_j7A man from Rainhill has died after falling from a bridge between Junctions 6 and 7 of the M62.

Drivers alerted emergency services at about 9.45am on Monday 15 February to a man lying on the motorway between Rainhill and Whiston. Police and paramedics arrived quickly, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident resulted in road closures and traffic congestion lasting long into the afternoon.

Today Merseyside Police announced that the as-yet-unnamed man was 41 years old. His next of kin have been informed, although he has yet to be formally identified.
