Find out from an Expert Why People Murder

dr_ian_marsh_crimeA Liverpool criminologist will speak about why people murder at an upcoming crime literature event at Prescot Library.

Dr Ian Marsh, a Hope University lecturer who recently published his first murder novel, Murderer: On Your Mark, will give the talk Made to Murder? Why People Kill at Prescot Library from 11am to 12.30pm on Saturday 12 March.

Tickets are free, but attendees are asked to book ahead by visiting any Knowsley Library.

The event is part of Knowsley Libraries’ fortnight-long Crime Reading Festival, taking place in libraries across the borough.

Other highlights include a look into infamous criminals from Liverpool’s past with historian Ken Pye (Kirkby Library, Tuesday 1 March) and a session on forensic crime writing with author Margaret Murphy (Huyton Library, Saturday 5 March).

  • Monday 29 February 3.30pm-4.30pm – After Hours – free after-school fun including board games, readings from David Walliams’s Gangsta Granny and other activities
  • Thursday 3 March 10am-11.30am –  Book Break – a regular informal reading group which, during the Crime Reading Festival, features crime-themed literature.
  • Friday 4 March 10.30am-11.30am – Words & Pictures – free story-based activities for under-5s, featuring children’s characters Ralfy Rabbit Book Burglar, Shifty McGifty and Slippery Sam
  • Monday 7 March 3.30pm-4.30pm – After Hours – free after-school fun including board games, readings from David Walliams’s Gangsta Granny and other activities
  • Thursday 10 March 10am-11.30am –  Book Break – a regular informal reading group which, during the Crime Reading Festival, features crime-themed literature.
