Failed Robbery Attempt at HSBC Prescot
Merseyside Police is appealing for information after an attempted robbery in Prescot this morning, March 29.
At around 9.25am, a call was received from staff at the HSBC Bank in Eccleston Street of men attempting to force their way into the premises using what was described as a sledgehammer.
The men briefly gained entry to the premises but made off empty handed shortly after, and are believed to have driven off in a dark-coloured vehicle down Market Place.
Enquiries are ongoing at the scene and in relation to tracing the suspects’ vehicle.
Detective Inspector Tony Kirk of Knowsley CID said: “This was a frightening incident for the members of staff, and thankfully nobody was hurt.
“We are keen to speak with any members of the public who saw the incident or a dark coloured car, possibly an Audi, in the vicinity of the bank. We believe this car had four men on board and drove away down Market Place.”
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Knowsley CID on (0151) 777 6561, call 101, or to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
