The building, which arrived at Eaton Street Park last Tuesday, 22 March, will have a large indoor meeting space, and a kitchenette with a hatch opening to the outside.

The Friends of Eaton Street Park teamed up with Prescot Town Council on the new facility, which replaces the old scout hut, bowling pavilion and other ancillary buildings, which had reached the end of their useful life.

Funding for the £68,000 project came from a £50,500 grant from Ibstock Cory Environmental Trust, with the town and borough councils making up the shortfall.

Members of the school’s Gardening Club, who helped redesign the park gates, plan to adopt the flower beds around the bowling green as their own.

But the town council are keen for everyone in the community to make maximum use of the new pavilion, and they have put out a special call for bowling clubs to make use of the green.

Planting Day on Saturday 2 April

To celebrate the arrival of the new pavilion, the Friends of Eaton Street Park invite everyone to help brighten up the area with a Planting Day on Saturday 2 April at 10am. Plants and equipment are provided – just bring yourself and some gardening gloves.

Anyone interested in starting a bowling club or using the site for other community activities can call Town Clerk Daniel Wilson on 0151 426 3933.
